Oscars Red Carpet Wrap-Up 2020

Natural hair makes a statement at this years Oscars, and wins big!

Another year, another Academy Awards with a lack of nominees of color. While we always come dressed to impress on the red carpet, hopefully one day these “big time” awards shows will nominate us more for the films and music that features people of color…since they claim to love it so much. No worries, though. That’s why we have our own award shows…

Now, off my soapbox and on to the fashion!!

We sure do know how to do glamour! There was Zazie Beetz who I commend for wearing her natural hair at almost every red carpet, Regina King who has yet to meet a red carpet that she couldn’t destroy, and Billy Porter who continues to push the fashion and gender envelope (and succeeds every time). Take a look below at some of the looks:

Cynthia Erivo wearing Versace. Styled by Jason Bolden.
Elaine Welteroth wearing Christian Siriano. Styled by Erica Cloud.
Zazie Beetz wearing custom Thom Browne. Styled by Solange Frankliin.
Tamron Hall wearing Theia Couture. Styled by Eric Niemand.
Regina King wearing Atelier Versace. Styled by Wayman and Micah.
Janelle Monae wearing Ralph Lauren. Styled by Alexandra Mandelkorn.
Billy Porter wearing Giles Deacon. Styled by Sam Ratelle.
The Crew of Hair Love with special guest Deandre Arnold, teen who was denied the chance to walk at his high school graduation due to the length of his dreadlocks.
