The past year for our favorite Bronx girl, Cardi B, has brought much success. The release of her debut album, Invasion of Privacy, last spring received glowing reviews, including four Grammy nominations and a fifth for her collaboration with Maroon 5:
- Record of the Year: “I Like It”
- Album of the Year: Invasion of Privacy
- Best Pop Duo/Group Performance: “Girls Like You” – Maroon 5 feat. Cardi B
- Best Rap Performance: “Be Careful”
- Best Rap Album: Invasion of Privacy
There are those who are familiar with Cardi’s music from her mixtapes, but her studio album really let the world get a real taste of who she is musically. She gave us that raw honesty with tracks like “Get Up 10”, advice on how to deal with these dudes on “I Do”, and reminded folks on how fly she truly is on “Drip”. Many love her, others hate on her. Either way, she is laughing all the way to the bank, okuurrr! These five nominations are very much deserving for one of the hardest working female MCs in the game right now. Nominated for two Grammys last year, let’s hope she takes home a few trophies this year.
