If you have been keeping up with the news or take a look back at the things you have dealt with in the past few weeks, we all have been going through a lot. The news has been triggering, some people in our lives have been triggering, Kanye West has been triggering, etc. But with all of that going on, for most people, Sundays are the best days to rest and relax. To take care of yourself. To unwind from last week and mentally prepare for next week.
One song that stood out to me which describes the need for self care (hell, the whole album does) is “Borderline (An Ode to Self Care)” by Solange featuring Q-Tip. It describes what we all deal with when we take on entirely too much, have so much thrown on us, and the importance of letting it all go:
You know I have the world to think
And you know I gotta go ahead and take some time
Because the last thing I want
Is think that it’s time that I leave the borderline
If there is one thing that you all do today, and every day, is to take a moment to get back to you. If your body and mind says that it’s time to rest, listen to it. Read a good book, binge watch a show that you need to catch up on, or listen to some great music. How do you do “self care”?
