Music Monday: NAO ft. SiR “Make It Out Alive”

Happy Monday!

I hope you all are enjoying your day off and enjoying some relaxation with grilled food on this Labor Day. Today I’m am bringing you some soul music from two R&B artists that I have on heavy rotation.

On Friday, NAO released a new single featuring SiR called “Make It Out Alive”. This song which has a mellow groove with a slight up-tempo beat is about what happens when the shit hits the fan. It can relate to relationships or life in general. NAO stated on Genius.com that “everything was in flux; relationships, work life, home situation, everything. I was lost and I genuinely had to ask ‘how do you make it out of here?’”. The chorus of the song sums up that feeling of being so deep in some type of mess that you feel like there’s no way to make it out alive, a feeling that most of us have felt before:

Fall too deep, too deep to get outta here
Too deep, too deep to get outta here
House burnt down, burnt down to the fucking ground
I don’t even care now if I make it out
Can’t get out my head, it’s the atmosphere
Colours change, blue grass like the Lumineers
I’m too deep, too deep to get outta here
Too deep, too deep to get outta here

And how do we make it out alive?
